Copyright — claims and takedowns

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Every song on Farooq Music must belong to the person who uploads it, or be shared with every owner's permission (words, music, voice, picture). When someone says a song is theirs, we settle it in the open and fairly — both sides are heard, the reasons are written down, and anyone can read the case.

Step 1 — File a claim

Open the song, press ⋯ (more) → This song is mine — copyright claim. You need to be signed in. Give:

  • your full name (or your company's) and who you are: the owner, acting for the owner, a record label, a distributor;
  • your original work (its title) and a link to it, if there is one;
  • what was copied and your proof;
  • the good-faith statement: what you say is true and you own the rights or act for the owner.

A false or careless claim is a breach of these rules and can close the claimant's account.

Step 2 — Both sides are told

The uploader (the owner of the artist page) and you both get an e-mail and a notice. The claim opens its own case page at farooqmusic.com/claims. The song stays up during the case with the mark Rights under review. When the proof is strong (for example a label or distributor with the registered recording), the Farooq Music team can hide the song at once while the case runs.

Step 3 — The uploader answers (14 days)

The uploader answers on the case page with their own proof (session files, the AI tool's licence, a written permission, the release on another platform under their name …). Both sides may write more statements. A statement is public unless you switch on Private — use Private for contracts, contacts and anything personal. E-mail addresses are never shown on the page. If there is no answer within 14 days, the case goes on without it.

Step 4 — Farooq Music decides (by day 30)

The team reads both sides and decides, with the reason shown to everyone:

  • The song stays — the claim is not proven;
  • The song is removed — the song is taken down from Farooq Music (website and apps); this is a strike on the uploader's account;
  • The song stays, credits corrected — for example the writer or composer is named properly.

Step 5 — One appeal (14 days)

Either side can appeal once within 14 days of the decision, on the case page, with the reason. The team looks again and the second decision is final on Farooq Music. Nothing here stops either side from going to a court.

Strikes

Three upheld claims against the same account can close it. Uploading someone else's work again after a removal can close it at once.

Our rights

Farooq Music may hide or remove any song, picture, words or comment that we reasonably believe breaks someone's rights or the law — during a case, after it, or without a claim when the copy is obvious. Questions or a claim by e-mail: contact@farooqmusic.com.
